At Greenfields Primary, we believe strong relationships are the foundation of a thriving school community. To support this, every pupil and member of staff belongs to one of our three Houses—Hemsworth, Hotspur, and Berwick. The only exceptions are our Headteachers and Deputy Headteachers, who remain outside the Houses so they can act as fair and impartial judges during competitions.
Our Houses are a treasured part of school life. From the excitement of Sports Day to the pride of earning points for their team, these traditions continue to leave a lasting mark.
When children join Greenfields, they are welcomed into a House (siblings always join the same one). Throughout the year, pupils take part in a variety of inclusive competitions, extending far beyond Sports Day. These activities bring together children from different year groups, helping them to build confidence, resilience, pride, and determination—qualities that shape them into well-rounded individuals.
Each House is guided by two Year 6 Captains, chosen by their peers in the Autumn term. These Captains are exemplary role models, taking responsibility for organising events and offering encouragement and support to younger pupils. Their leadership ensures that the House system remains a source of inspiration, teamwork, and community spirit across the school.
