Governors

Kind Hearts, Inquisitive Minds

Welcome to our Governors

Our Governing Body plays a vital role in helping Greenfields Primary School to thrive. Governors are volunteers from our local community, including parents, staff and other professionals, who work together to support the leadership of the school.

Their job is to make sure the school is well run, safe, and focused on giving every child the best possible education. Governors do this by:

  • Setting the vision and values of the school and ensuring they are lived out every day
  • Supporting and challenging leaders to keep standards high and continually improve
  • Overseeing finances and resources so they are used wisely and fairly
  • Ensuring safeguarding and wellbeing are at the heart of all decisions
  • Representing parents and the community, bringing different perspectives to school life

The Governing Body is not involved in the day‑to‑day running of the school, but works strategically to guide its direction and hold leaders to account. Together, governors help ensure Greenfields Primary remains a happy, inclusive and successful place for children to learn and grow.

A Message from our Governors

As the Local Governing Board, we are a committed group of volunteers who work closely with the Headteacher and school leaders to ensure that every child at Greenfields receives an exceptional education and feels safe, valued and supported. Our role is to provide strong strategic oversight across key areas including safeguarding, curriculum, behaviour and attendance, finance and staff wellbeing. Through regular monitoring, link‑governor visits and review of the School Development Plan, we offer both challenge and support to help the school continue to improve and thrive. We take pride in celebrating the achievements of pupils and staff, ensuring that policies are robust, systems are safe and the school’s values are lived every day. Each year, we publish an Annual Governor Newsletter on the school website, sharing more about our work, priorities and impact across the year.

Governors 2025-2026

Our Governing Body acts as a critical friend to the school, helping and advising the leadership team. Each subject co-ordinator also has a link governor who helps and advises on the development and progression of that subject.
